Adventure Full- day Tour: „La Catarata“

Jungle Trekking in Paría

This is a tour to a real highlight, right in the rainforests of the Paria Peninsula. This is a really secret place, known only by us, far away from the usual tourist routes- an exclusive adventure.

Offroad in Paría

About 45 minutes from here, we come to „the window“ and a fantastic view over the „Valle de Benitez“. After passing the cute village of “El Rincon” we get to “El pilar”, where we start to look around for our guide. After a little off-road driving we reach the hot springs, where we stop to boil the eggs we’ll have for lunch later.

Further on, we start our trekking tour at an old cocoa plantation and reach the brook, which has tepid water at this point. We’ll be surrounded by the dense deep green jungle, while we listen to it’s enchanting sounds.

Dschungel trekking

We climb up the brook, springing from rock to rock, wade through the water, getting closer to the warm springs.

Trekking in Venezuela

The temperature of the brook gets hotter and hotter, until we reach a sulphur wall, which is spitting hot water. A fog and sulphur smell take us closer to the center of the earth.

Urwald Venezuela

It’s not recommended to touch the water… but further up, there is a natural bassin, with massage nozzle to refresh and take a bath.

If you think, we’re at our destination you’re wrong. Now you have to climb bigger rocks and it’s a little more difficult. Now we are deep inside the jungle, but no need to worry- our guide can smell snakes and always chooses the easiest way to go.

Exhausted and weak, finally we reach our destination: „La catarata“- the waterfall, which rewards us with it’s splendeur (together with lunch) for all our efforts.

Wasserfall

The way back is much easier- there is a small jungle path, leading us directly to our 4 wheel drive and some well earned, ice cold beers.
