After two hours driving east of Carúpano along the Caribbean coast, passing through Rio Caribe, lonely villages, plain suburbs, and varied vegetation, you get to "Playa Medina", which is known as the nicest Caribbean beach of Venezuela. You are also able to get to Playa Medina with a fishing boat, which gives a nice view of all the beautiful beaches on the way.
Surrounded by palm trees, in a quiet bay with a nice sandy beach, "Playa Medina" has been part of a coconut hacienda for over 100 years.
Going east from there, you get to the unknown and virgin beaches of Chaguaramas and Puy-puy. A lot of different flora and fauna will astonish you while traveling this countryside. You will pass mountains, rivers, and the rainforest.

1st choice: take a cab or a “por puesto” to Carúpano, then take the bus to Rio Caribe. In Rio Caribe take a "por puesto" in the direction of Bohordal. Get off at the junction to Playa Medina and Playa Puy-puy. If you think that walking in the strong sunshine at noon is not too strenuous for you, you can make the beautiful 7 km journey to Playa Medina by foot, but there are always a lot of people who will give you a lift to the beach as well. It usually works out well. You should try to get back to the Posada from Rio Caribe before it gets dark.
2nd choice: with our transportation service: $60 for up to 4 persons , each extra person $14. Includes drinks and a packed lunch; see for the combined tour with the cocoa plantation and buffalo ranch.
3rd choice: with a boat and our transportation service: $84 for up to 4 persons , each extra person $12. On this trip, you get onto a fishing boat in Rio Caribe and see all the beautiful beaches on the coastline you cannot reach by car. In the end you come to playa Medina, where we’ll wait for you with drinks and lunch. On the way back we go through the jungle and stop at the cocoa plantation.
