Caño de Ajies, part of the Orinoco-delta:

Turúepano National Park:

Since 1989 it has been a national park, because it’s one of the last parts of the world where there are living “Manatees”.

The surrounding here are similar to the Orinoco Delta, but with much less tourism.

You’ll explore the tropical rainforest of the Orinoco Delta along the Caño de Ajíes river. These wild, rugged, and untouched regions shelter more than 300 species of birds, including more than 15 that are endemic. With a little luck you can observe river dolphins, monkeys, snakes and caimans.

After a one hour trip from the Posada, passing through “el Pilar“ and “Guaúnos” you will get to the sleepy town of Ajies.

From here you start your trip with a fisherman in his boat, riding down the Caño ajies.

On our way back, we’ll stop at a river to refresh ourselves in the clear water.
